Expert Care

Doug C. Ko, LAC

Doug earned his Master’s degree in Acupuncture & Chinese Herbology from Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine (SIOM) in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Xie and Dr. Dan Bensky among others had great influence on his path to become a practitioner of the Chinese medicine.

I may be new to the Raleigh area but I bring with me 20 years of experience from Lynnwood, Washington. My wife and I recently relocated from Lynnwood, Washington to Raleigh in order for us to be closer to family.

Doug is a licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) in North Carolina and an East Asian Medicine Practitioner (EAMP) in Washington state and holds two National Diplomates in Chinese herbology and acupuncture from National Certification Commission Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). After graduation, he visited South Korea and developed a mentorship with Dr. Jae-Du Kim in Seoul, South Korea who studied in Taiwan. When Dr. Kim treated Doug years ago, it left a deep impression on Doug for the following years and Dr. Kim is the one who inspired Doug to study Chinese medicine years later.

“Un million de gracias!  I can never thank you enough for all the times you have helped me.  I will always remember that you were there when I was very sick and in my thoughts you will always be.  Don’t change.  We need more people like you. ”

Maria

“I am happier now since the treatment.  I feel like I’ve gradually regained my life back, a life taken away from me when I became primary care giver of my mother-in-law for five difficult years.  I loved her dearly but it was very difficult sharing my home even to the person that I loved.  I do heartily thank Doug.  I am much better now dealing with my depression.”

Emelyn

“I feel great. My shoulder and knees are taking a punishment of this softball season.  I believe a lot of it comes from your treatments.  Thank you very much!”

“I can’t thank you enough for excellent care and excellent service. After surgery, I experienced a lot of pain and aching throughout my whole body.  I couldn’t walk well and couldn’t sleep; it was getting worse and worse.  I decided to visit Doug Ko and give acupuncture a try.  After the first session with Doug Ko, I was amazed at how great the treatment was and how quickly it helped.  Within the first day, all the pain and aching had drastically faded and I was feeling better.  Acupuncture sessions with Doug Ko were easy, quick and highly beneficial.  I would definitely recommend anyone to him that is suffering from pains, aching, general health and preventative care.  I would not be feeling as great as I do now without your help.  I am very grateful for that.  Thank you very much Doug Ko for helping me get my life back. Thanks for everything.”

“I sprained my ankle badly.  I went to Sports Medicine and physical therapy at UW over a period of 2 years. I had experienced chronic pain afterwards, which got worse and worse.  The providers I saw referred me to high priced specialists, all of whom charged hundreds of dollars to no avail.

I also tried chiropractic, but it did not help in this instance.  My chiropractor referred me to Mr. Doug C. Ko, EAMP, Dipl. Ac, Dipl. Chinese Herbs.  I only got help once under his care.  Had I gone directly to him, I would have saved my insurance provider a few thousand dollars and probably a lot more on costly.

Mr. Ko is an excellent provider with very reasonable rates.  He was trained by a direct disciple of a world-renowned Taiwanese acupuncturist from the 20th century.  Since he reads Chinese, his understanding of acupuncture has great depth. He’s one of the best.”

“I am 61 years old.  I was in a car accident 12/30/10.  I have severe rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. My right ankle and foot joints are fused.  I also broke my left ankle/foot area in 2003.  That was so you had some of my history.  I have been treated for the last ten years or so by zillions of doctors and taken many medicines.

Aft first I came only because a trusted friend recommended it.  The office was friendly so my first session with Doug Ko was talking.  He decided that acupuncture would be the best treatment. So we started.

I have been visiting him for months now.  My visits went from three to two times a week.  Doug and Lee Ann have answered all my questions.

I have not felt this good in probably 8 years plus.  I can stand up straight without any pain.  My arthritic discomfort is tolerable.  It no longer stops me from doing the things I love.

The right ankle with the fusion is a focal point.  He devised treatment that changes as needed with the constant use of the heat lamp.  If I comment about a “something” bothering me, he’ll question me and do “greatness.”

I truly thank them for helping me. I am able to move about with a cane or a walker now. I was in a wheelchair for about 6 years, amazing relief.”
